The Best Buy in the Orient
|
|

|
Malaysia is a very scenic destination
that offers all types of activities, from fine golf to great diving, nature tours and
great beach resorts that have not yet been discovered by Americans and people from many
other countries.
|
Besides being the best value in the Orient where you can spend two
weeks at a deluxe resort for the price of one week at a resort in Hawaii, it offers great
shopping opportunities and is a super vacation spot. The first thing to strike a
visitor is how clean everything is all around the country, from the beautiful airport in
Kuala Lumpur to the smallest village. Kuala Lumpur has the world's tallest building,
the twin Petronas towers which were prominently featured in the movie
"Entrapment" with Sean Connery. There is virtually no crime in the country
and the locals are very friendly and most of the residents speak English since it was,
after all, a British Colony until the 1950's.

World Amateur Inter-Team Golf
Championship 2002
This event is sponsored by Tourism Malaysia.
This tournament has qualifying rounds beginning
in April and every month through September, with the Grand Final scheduled for
the very end of September. The venue we like the best is Damai in Sarawak,
Borneo. It is an Arnold Palmer designed course that is not only a very good
course, but also quite pretty with the last five holes being along the South
China Sea (Don't hook it!). The dates are September 15-20.
We have prepared a special itinerary in
conjunction with this venue that will take you to
The Shangri-la Rasa Ria
Sabah, Borneo, for three nights and two rounds of golf on the Dalit Golf Course
at the hotel. From there you will fly to Kuching and the tournament to be
followed by a two night stay at the Borneo Highlands Resort and play on
the Hornbill Golf and Jungle Club
(click here for pictures) which is a great course in the jungle at 3000
feet elevation, located some two hours from Damai by car. This entire stay
of 10 nights and airfare from Los Angeles will cost you $2000 per person based
on double occupancy and it leaves Los Angeles on September 10 with a return of
September 22. Upgrades to Business Class or First Class is possible
on the flights at a very reasonable amount and recommended due to the length of
the flight to Borneo. We have reserved spots for five teams in this tournament
and they will be booked on a first come-first served basis.
The
format for this tournament is three best balls out of the four and the top two
finishers in the gross division, as well as the top two in the net division get
a return invitation to play in the Grand Final in Kuala Lumpur at the end of
September, and that includes airfare from wherever you are traveling from during
the qualifying round, as well as the golf and hotel - a FREE return trip!

Newark via Malaysian Airlines
|
 | Total
